Brionny McCabe-Moan is one of our talented graduate trainers at Storm Fitness Academy. With a deep passion for helping others build confidence and grow, Brionny has turned her love for fitness into a successful career, offering personal coaching and online services. Read on to learn more about her inspiring journey.
I’ve been a fitness professional for 1 year, and what I enjoy most is helping people become confident in themselves and helping them grow as individuals. My favourite memory involves my sister, who has struggled with mental health for a long time. Her anxiety was so bad that she wouldn’t leave her room for days. Over the past year, she’s become confident enough to go to the gym, even when I’m not there. She still finds it hard, and I often receive messages from her at 5 am, but her progress has been amazing.
I’ve always been into fitness. At first, I wanted to pursue professional football, but when that didn’t work out, I knew I still wanted to help people. I found myself spending a lot of time in the gym, and whenever someone new came in and seemed unsure, I wanted to help, but I was afraid of giving them the wrong information. That’s when I realised I wanted to make this my full-time career and decided to enrol in a course.
Now, I’m looking to introduce online coaching for when I travel at the end of next year. My goal is to help out in gyms and assist people in different countries around the world.
These are the services I offer:
I am also working on learning more about PCOS and menopause to offer better advice to women dealing with these conditions.
Storm Fitness Academy helped me build courage. When I first started my PT course with them, I hadn’t heard much about them except for a visit they made to my college. I decided to leave college early and join Storm Fitness Academy because I knew college wasn’t for me, and I wanted to put all my focus into my passion.
When I had to take one of the in-person practical exams, I was very nervous because I didn’t know anyone, and I had never been to that gym before. But once I started talking to people, it eased my nerves. After completing the test, my feedback was that I looked like a natural, even though I had never been there before. That feedback gave me so much confidence to push forward. When I got my final results, I knew there was no turning back, and personal training was my future.
Without Storm Fitness Academy, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to approach people the way I can now and offer help. I’ve also had people ask where I did my course, and I always recommend Storm Fitness Academy. It’s one of the best, and also one of the most affordable.
Always be polite when communicating with others. If someone doesn’t want help, don’t force it—just say, “No worries, see you around,” and walk away. People are often scared to ask for help, so if someone looks like they’re struggling, don’t be afraid to offer assistance. They will always appreciate it.
Always project positive energy—you want people to enjoy working with you and not dread it. And don’t always talk about fitness! It’s nice to have conversations about their holidays or anything else they have planned. Ask how they are to make them feel more comfortable, and to make the experience more enjoyable for them. That way, they’ll want to invest in you as a person as well as a trainer.
